Alex Sutherland

AZ films has been set up by Alex Sutherland as a production service company in Turkey.

Having an extensive production experience in countries such as Australia, Spain, Ukraine, Portugal, Bosnia, Macedonia, Croatia, Morocco, Nigeria and all over India, Alex first filmed in Turkey in 1995 working on a series of major British TV films. At that time there was virtually no local backup for foreign film crews.

With AZ films, Alex began to establish an infrastructure, initially working with bilingual Turkish crews to build up a practical shooting location for international productions.

Shortly after Alex oversaw and managed the Turkish shoot of Touchstone Pictures’ Armageddon (1999) and Eon Production’s James Bond: The World Is Not Enough (2000). Alex has also supervised various projects including Harem and Mozart in Turkey for Channel 4, set in Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace.

Through AZ films has also worked in cooperation with Film Finances London on setting up foreign co-productions with Antalya Film Studios.
